World Series of Fighting returns this Friday from the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, where former UFC welterweight standout Jon Fitch rematches Josh Burkman in the main event. The two fought in the UFC in 2006, with Fitch winning by 2nd round submission.
This card quietly took two hits to the main card, as Rolles Gracie pulled out of his fight with Dave Huckaba with an injury, while Tyrone Spong vs. Angel DeAnda was yanked after Spong's Visa issues. That fight has since been moved to the August 10th show.
The main card airs live on NBC Sports Network at 11 PM ET/8 PM PT, with prelims streamed live on Sherdog.The eighteen fighters participating on the World Series of Fighting 3: Fitch vs. Burkman fight card on Friday officially weighed in on Thursday in Las Vegas.

The rematch between former UFC welterweight contender Jon Fitch and Josh Burkman is official. The first fought at UFC Fight Night 4 in 2006 with Fitch submitting Burkman in the second round by rear naked choke. Burkman looks to avenge that loss and prove he’s the top welterweight in World Series of Fighting.
The next World Series Of Fighting event appears to have a main event set. Former UFC Welterweight Championship challenger and recent WSOF signee Jon Fitch (24-5-1 1 NC, 0-0 WSOF) will take on Josh Burkman (25-9, 2-0 WSOF) in Fitch’s debut with the promotion at the June event. Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com reported the news on Wednesday night and stating that verbal agreements are in place for the bout.
Fitch was famously cut by the UFC last month following a loss to Demian Maia at UFC 156. He signed a multi-fight deal with the WSOF earlier this month and is looking to get back on track after scoring just one win over his last four fights.
Burkman is coming off a first-round knockout win over Aaron Simpson as this past weekend’s WSOF 2 event in Atlantic City. Burkman has now put together four straight wins, and he is 7-1 since being released from the UFC in 2008. He has also scored a win over Gerald Harris in the WSOF.
Fitch and Burkman have fought once before, in the UFC at UFC Fight Night 4 in April 2006. Fitch scored the win in the second round, submitting Burkman with a rear-naked choke.Fitch vs. Burkman will be a non-title fight as the WSOF plans to introduce championships later this year. WSOF 3 is scheduled to take place on June 14 in Las Vegas, Nevada at The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. It will air on the NBC Sports Network.
The World Series of Fighting is set for it’s third event following today’s official weigh-ins for the WSOF: Fitch vs. Burkman event.The fighters weighed-in Thursday evening in Las Vegas for the nine-bout card with all of the main card fighters making weight for their bouts.The main event is set to air live on television on the NBC Sports Network while the prelim matches are expected to stream live on the web at WSOF.com.
